PHOTOGRAPHY
Freezing time has been a dominant part of Vanda Bednarikova's working etiquette; with the intention to document, remember, reflect, preserve.
a blank space.
2022
When we reach the last stage of the NREM state of sleeping, our bodies are the most relaxed. Electrical activities come
in slow waves to the brain, we are hard to wake up. This type of sleep is where we regenerate our bodies. And we don't
dream. We get thrown into limbo before we fall back into the REM state. A stage of sleeping where we can dream again.

Fetal position, as an innocent baby or a child. Vulnerable just as the body, naked and exposed. Yet, head to toe, frozen.

I get thrown into this mental limbo every day.
While fully awake.
Regaining strength to function.

A body drops naked as an embryo in a place where is nothing around, just you, left alone, a bit lost.
This analogue triptych represents the state of dissociation, its liminal alienation, hosting solitude, the rise of uncomfortable tranquillity.
